Playful learning, NESTA

Working with fellow Playful Places consultants Charlotte Derry and Jo Graham , I assisted with the evaluation of a highly successful outdoor play space at The Compton Centre Community Hub in Leeds. The equipment had been mindfully designed to promote literacy skills through intergenerational play, and it was part of a larger research programme funded by NESTA - the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts. Charlotte, Jo and I established an evaluation methodology and through observations and one-to-one discussions, pinpointed qualitative findings that clearly show how successful the space is in its intentions.
